About Me
My journey into the world of psychedelics began at the age of 20, a pivotal moment that helped me get through a difficult moment in my life and shifted my path toward uncovering the enigmatic potential of plant medicines.
My initial years were marked by an insatiable curiosity. I was profoundly drawn towards understanding the mechanics of these substances, which led me to the academic world of cognitive neuroscience. I attended various psychedelic conferences. These gatherings became crucibles of learning, shaping my perspective and guiding my aspirations. It was at one of these conferences that I made a serendipitous connection with Imperial College, where I carried out an internship on the interplay between music and LSD.
As I unraveled the layers of neuroscience, I felt a growing call to pivot from the theoretical frameworks of the brain to helping those working on themselves. After a second masters degree in Clinical Psychology I further specialized in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and started working with clients.
During this time I also got involved with Synthesis, a retreat organization working with psilocybin containing truffles, initially as a research consultant before joining as a health screener. In this role I ensured the safety of participants through extensive screening procedures using questionnaires and in-depth Zoom calls. During my four years at Synthesis I took on various roles and joined the retreat team as a facilitator. Working within a team of kind, compassionate and highly skilled colleagues as we guided hundreds of participants through their journey with truffles was a beautiful apprenticeship that I still cherish deeply.
On a personal level my development continued during my travels through the heartlands of South America. I spent several months in Peru and Costa Rica working with Ayahuasca under the guidance of different practitioners which instilled a reverence and respect for the shamanic lineages that have worked with these plants for generations. The ancient melodies of Ayahuasca also whispered a newfound love for music into my soul. What began as a tentative exploration of woodwind flutes burgeoned into a profound passion for the powerful effects of tonal instruments such as crystal singing bowls and melodious handpans.
All these previous ventures gave birth to Guidance With/In, a platform where I offer an array of services grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness and compassion coaching to help people on their journey of self-development as well as prepare for and integrate psychedelic experiences. Today, nestled amidst the serene forested expanse of the Netherlands, I find solace in the gentle rhythms of nature, the transformative potential of sound and the power of playfulness. Accompanied by my fiancé and our two feline companions, I continue to weave my journey, inviting all to join me in of self-exploration, personal transformation, and a deeper understanding.
